Eventually arrived: The magnet system of PERC was completed and delivered to the MLZ

Its dimensions are impressively large, the particles under investigation with its help however microscopically small. The 12 m long magnet system of PERC for high-precision studies of the neutron beta decay was delivered in September to the FRM II research reactor – now this event was presented in a slide show and a video. Obituary for Andrey Nikolaevich Ivanov

We mourn Andrey Nikolaevich Ivanov. Andrey was born on June 3, 1945 in what was then Leningrad. Since 1993 he was a university professor at the Faculty of Physics, named "Peter The Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University" after Peter the Great. Since 1995 he has been a guest professor at the Institute for Nuclear Physics for several years and has been closely associated with the institute ever since. Mehr

Quantum gravitational states of ultracold neutrons as a tool for probing of beyond-Riemann gravity

We analyze a possibility to probe beyond-Riemann gravity (BRG) contributions, introduced by Kostelecký and Li (see Kostelecký and Li (2021)) on the basis of the Effective Field Theory (EFT) by Kostelecký (2004). We carry out such an analysis by calculating the BRG contributions to the transition frequencies of the quantum gravitational states of ultracold neutrons (UCNs). These states are being used for a test of interactions beyond the Standard Model (SM) and General Relativity (GR) in the qBOUNCE experiments. We improve by order of magnitude some constraints obtained by Kostelecký and Li (2021) Mehr

Decoherence-free entropic gravity: Model and experimental tests

Erik Verlinde's theory of entropic gravity [E. Verlinde, J. High Energy Phys. 04 (2011) 029], postulating that gravity is not a fundamental force but rather emerges thermodynamically, has garnered much attention as a possible resolution to the quantum gravity problem Mehr

Tests of Fundamental Quantum Mechanics and Dark Interactions with Low Energy Neutrons--Extended Version

Among the known particles, the neutron takes a special position, as it provides experimental access to all four fundamental forces and a wide range of hypothetical interactions. Mehr

Neutron Radiography and Tomography of the Drying Process of Screed Samples

The moisture content of screed samples is an essential parameter in the construction industry, since the screed must dry to a certain level of moisture content to be ready for covering. Mehr

Accurate Measurement of the Beta-Asymmetry in Neutron Decay Rules out Dark Decay Mode

The question of the nature of dark matter is one of the major challenges of elementary particle physics. Mehr

Limit on the Fierz Interference Term b from a Measurement of the Beta Asymmetry in Neutron Decay

In the standard model of particle physics, the weak interaction is described by vector and axial-vector couplings only. Mehr

MONOPOL - A traveling-wave magnetic neutron spin resonator for tailoring polarized neutron beams

We report on first experimental tests of a neutron magnetic spin resonator at a very cold neutron beam port of the high flux reactor at the ILL Grenoble. Mehr
